KUMAMOTO, Japan/TOKYO -- With more than 20 billion image sensors shipped to date and a new plant being constructed in Japan's Kumamoto prefecture -- home to a growing chip industry cluster -- Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing has no plans to slow down, President Yoshihiro Yamaguchi told Nikkei.
The Sony Group unit looks to lead development of the evolving image sensor field, Yamaguchi said in the recent interview. Edited excerpts follow.
