SEOUL -- Startups in South Korea, a country known for its chip manufacturing prowess, are stepping up their efforts in designing artificial intelligence chips to tap the fast-growing global market for AI computing.
Some of these "fabless" companies, meaning they don't own production facilities of their own, are getting a helping hand from Samsung Electronics and the government.
