TAIPEI -- Supply chain security is becoming even more important than cost for the semiconductor industry amid escalating U.S.-China tensions and an increasingly divided world, the CEO of top U.K. compound chip material maker IQE told Nikkei Asia.

"You need three things to be successful in this business: You need great technology, you need scale, and you need a global footprint for supply security," IQE chief executive Americo Lemos told Nikkei Asia.
