Chip developer seeks to leverage know-how cultivated in smartphone business

TAIPEI -- Major Taiwanese chip designer MediaTek looks to apply its low-power design know-how to products geared toward artificial intelligence as its primary smartphone business plateaus in the Chinese market.

Sales rose 22.4% on the year to 530.5 billion New Taiwan dollars ($16.2 billion) in 2024 results announced Friday, with net profit up 38.2% at NT$106.3 billion.
