TAIPEI -- Taiwan's MediaTek plans to publicly list its Bluetooth chip unit this year to raise funds for research and development as well as make the company, currently valued at over $3 billion, more competitive in hiring amid a historic labor crunch in the semiconductor industry.

MediaTek, the world's biggest mobile chip developer by shipments, initially plans to list Airoha Technology on Taiwan's Emerging Stock Market -- a preliminary step before making a full IPO -- by the end of June, three people with knowledge of the matter told Nikkei Asia.
