TAIPEI -- Taiwan on Wednesday launched its biggest-ever raid on Chinese tech companies suspected of violating regulations against hiring away local workers.

Taiwan, a major hub of the global tech industry, has introduced a series of measures aimed at protecting its vital chip economy, with most of them aimed at stemming outflows of workers and information to China.
