SINGAPORE --  Amazon Web Services on Tuesday said it will invest 12 billion Singapore dollars (around $9 billion) to expand its cloud infrastructure in Singapore, joining rival U.S. tech giants investing in the fast-growing Southeast Asian digital market. 

Amazon's cloud computing unit said the investment, which will be made over five years by 2028, will go to the construction, operation and maintenance of data centers as well as cover operating costs including utilities, salaries and rent.
