PALO ALTO, California/GUANGZHOU -- Amazon.com is offering deep discounts on electronics, household items and more for its Prime Day sales event amid growing competition with Chinese rival Temu, as inflation sends consumers hunting for bargains.

From 40% off Samsung TVs to 30% off the Apple Watch, Amazon is dropping prices on a wide range of products over the two-day sale through Wednesday. Some Amazon-branded products are selling at a 70% markdown.
