DAVOS, Switzerland -- Artificial intelligence should be allowed to develop before it is stifled by rules, the chief technology officer of Swedish telecommunications equipment maker Ericsson argues.

"There is a common understanding that the safety of AI, having trustworthy AI [and] responsible AI are critical for a good development of society," Erik Ekudden told Nikkei on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, where AI is a major theme this year.
