WUHAN, China -- China's Baidu released on Friday two new foundation models for generative artificial intelligence that cost a fraction of comparable offerings from DeepSeek, accelerating Baidu's push into the growing field as its mainstay search service faces slowing traffic.
Baidu's new Ernie 4.5 Turbo large language model delivers the same performance as V3 at 40% of the price, Chairman and CEO Robin Li said at a developer conference in Wuhan, referring to the DeepSeek model that stunned the technology industry with its cost-effectiveness when it launched in late 2024.
