TOKYO -- Only 9.1% of people in Japan use generative artificial intelligence, compared with 56.3% in China, a Japanese government white paper released Friday shows.

The percentage in Japan was also lower than three other countries referenced for comparison in the 2024 White Paper on Information and Communications in Japan: 46.3% in the U.S., 39.8% in the U.K. and the 34.6% in Germany.
