SYDNEY -- Australia is being increasingly hit with cyberattacks, with victims suffering greater damage and targets ranging from critical infrastructure to supply chains, a report from the country's digital spy agency shows.

Close to 94,000 incidents were reported to law enforcement in the fiscal year ended June, up 23% from a year earlier, according to the Annual Cyber Threat Report by the Australian Signals Directorate. Average damage from cybercrime increased 14%, and large businesses suffered average costs of 71,600 Australian dollars ($46,375). Attacks targeted government agencies and critical infrastructure facilities, as well as supply chains and systems handling sensitive information of private-sector companies.
