TOKYO -- Canon, Sony and other Japanese companies are offering content producers new high-tech tools to help solve labor shortages in video production.

At a recent video shoot atop the Tokyo headquarters of publishing company Kodansha, two actors performed a wild action scene on a helipad in front of several cameras. But only one of the cameras was operated by a human.
