Long hours and grueling working conditions are chronic problems for China's tech industry.

HONG KONG -- The sudden deaths this week of two workers at different companies have revived debate over the Chinese tech industry's grueling work hours and demanding corporate culture.

On Monday afternoon, a woman working in the mainland China office of online retailer Shopee died at the office. Shopee is headquartered in Singapore and its parent, Sea Holdings, is backed by Chinese tech giant Tencent Holdings.
