HONG KONG -- Chinese lidar maker Hesai Technology, one of a dozen tech companies recently added to the U.S. Department of Defense's list of Chinese military companies operating in America, said Wednesday it would file a legal challenge against Washington's decision.

The Department of Defense added Hesai to its list, known as the 1260H list, on Feb. 1, but the NASDAQ-listed company described the move as "unjust, capricious and meritless."
