MOUNTAIN VIEW, California -- Google teased a general-purpose artificial intelligence agent, powered by its latest Gemini AI model, that can perform various tasks and interact with humans in real time via voice, text and vision.

At its annual I/O developers conference Tuesday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai laid out an ambitious plan for developing a universal AI agent with Project Astra.
