Hitachi's quasi-quantum computer to speed plastics research

Japan's Sekisui Chemical seeks to boost materials science R&D efficiency up to tenfold

Hitachi is contributing its quasi-quantum computer to Sekisui Chemical for materials development.

TOKYO -- Japanese plastics maker Sekisui Chemical will use Hitachi's so-called quasi-quantum computer to accelerate research on new materials by sifting a wide range of compounds to select the best candidates.

The platform will investigate compounds that may offer the best performance in terms of heat resistance, conductivity and other properties. Applications will include films and adhesives for electronics and automobiles.
