HO CHI MINH CITY -- LG Electronics added coders earlier this month to its vehicle and home appliance businesses in Vietnam, where it traditionally focused on manufacturing. The addition of software jobs contributes to the fast-growing economy's bid to move up the value chain from factories toward frontline innovation.
The company's research and development work focuses on digital systems, such as in-car navigation, LG said, adding that the "government's aggressive R&D talent development strategies" and cooperation with Hanoi National University helped the South Korean giant attract skilled staff.
