Mercari's development center in India to seek IT talent

At least 50 workers to be hired in first year, says executive

TOKYO -- Japanese flea market app operator Mercari is expanding its overseas operations, in search of talent in information technology as competition for skilled workers heats up in the international job market.

Mercari will establish its second overseas development center, which will be located in India, and hire 50-60 engineers over the next year, increasing its payroll gradually after that. The Tokyo-based company set up its first overseas development center in the U.S.
