TOKYO -- A Japanese scientist is developing next-generation rechargeable batteries using an ingredient commonly found in cosmetic products.

Titanium oxide, used to make cosmetics, soaps and sunscreen, is seen as offering a possible solution to some of the challenges that exist in making potential batteries of the future, such as solid-state batteries and sodium-ion batteries.
