PALO ALTO, California -- OpenAI, the American pioneer in generative artificial intelligence, announced on Monday that it will raise $40 billion from multiple investors, including the SoftBank Group, bringing its corporate value to $300 billion.

SoftBank is set to invest $30 billion, making it the largest investor in Open AI, exceeding Microsoft's cumulative investment of nearly $14 billion since 2019. Softbank's equity stake is not expected to match that of Microsoft, which invested in the company at an earlier stage.
