SEOUL -- About three-quarters of the roughly 27,000 members of five Samsung Electronics unions have voted in favor of a potential strike against the company after talks with management over pay increases collapsed.

The result comfortably surpasses the legal requirement of receiving support from more than half of members to take collective action. If the strike goes ahead, it will be the first ever against the company, which employs 124,800 people in the country.
