SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics' operating profit fell almost 13% in the third quarter from the previous three-month period, as the company struggles to supply its artificial intelligence memory chips to U.S. chipmaker Nvidia. 

Samsung announced Tuesday that its operating profit dropped 12.8% to 9.1 trillion won ($6.8 billion) for the three months through September from the previous quarter in its earnings guidance. Its revenue rose 6.7% to 79 trillion won during the same period.
