TOKYO -- Sony has introduced an AI camera-powered system that measures the effectiveness of in-store advertising at 500 7-Eleven convenience stores in Japan, the company announced on Wednesday, aiming to tap into demand for high-precision analysis of consumer behavior.

Chip developing subsidiary Sony Semiconductor Solutions installed the cameras, which are about the same size as a digital camera, at 500 undisclosed 7-Eleven locations.
