TOKYO -- In about three months, Rapidus will have a chance to prove the government-funded startup can produce the 2-nanometer chips that customers in the tech industry are so eagerly awaiting.
Founded just over two years ago and with a little over 600 employees, the company's ambitions have been greeted with equal amounts of anticipation and skepticism. Successful test production in April would be a strong sign that Japan, which has been out of the advanced chip race since 2010, is back in the mix.
