TAIPEI/SEOUL -- The Biden administration on Monday launched its widest-ever controls on exports of U.S. technology to China and added 140 Chinese entities to its trade blacklist.
The move not only targets Chinese semiconductor producers but all the supporting forces -- from chipmaking equipment and gases to design software -- needed to move the industry forward. It also takes aim at the chip manufacturing and supply network that has helped Chinese tech champion Huawei Technologies continue to access advanced chips.
