TAIPEI -- The U.S. is stepping up efforts in Taiwan and elsewhere in Asia to ensure American export controls on Huawei and other blacklisted Chinese companies are enforced.

As part of those efforts, the U.S. stationed a regional export control officer in Taiwan for the first time last year to help ensure that companies there, as well as in Japan and Korea, comply with Washington's rules.
