TOKYO -- Vietnamese tech company CMC plans to invest $500 million in data centers and other infrastructure in its home country, Japan and elsewhere in the five years through 2028, leveraging its homeland's neutral position in ongoing tensions between China and the U.S. to capture demand.

Vietnam's second-largest tech company has data centers in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. It plans to expand the total power capacity there from the current roughly 10 megawatts to as much as 100 MW by 2028. It will also build slightly smaller data centers in Japan and other countries.
