JAKARTA -- Apple's new iPhone 16 series debuted in Indonesia on Friday and was met with lines of eager buyers in Jakarta, after the government lifted a ban on sales of the gadget following the company's pledge to invest more than $150 million.
At a store selling iPhone 16s in a shopping mall in West Jakarta, a line of about 30 people waited for the outlet to open Friday morning to get their hands on the smartphone that features improved cameras and longer battery life supported by the more powerful A18 chip. The price tag for Indonesian buyers starts at 12.49 million rupiah ($743).
