GUANGZHOU -- Chinese telecom equipment supplier Huawei Technologies' new tri-fold smartphone attracted orders from roughly 1.3 million people within seven hours after the start of reservations.

The official site began accepting orders for the Mate XT at 12:08 p.m. Saturday. The product will be unveiled on Tuesday Chinese time, soon after Apple is expected to show off the iPhone 16 on Monday in the U.S.
