Japan plans support for Philippine 5G network to counter China tech

TOKYO -- Japan will help the Philippines build a 5G network as part of efforts by Tokyo to provide an alternative to Chinese technology for the Indo-Pacific region's infrastructure, Nikkei has learned.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa will discuss the aid plan in the Philippines next month, during a visit to Southeast Asia.
