Thai CP Group, Norway's Telenor in talks to join mobile arms

BANGKOK -- Thailand's largest conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Group and Norway telecoms group Telenor are in discussions to merge their mobile arms in Thailand, aiming to create the largest mobile operator in the kingdom.

"There are open issues outstanding and there is no certainly that the discussions will result in a final agreement," Telenor said in a filing to the Oslo Stock Exchange, acknowledging that the merger deal is in progress.
