Terumo doing more to help employees with cancer

Japanese medical device maker quick to comply with new law

TOKYO -- Medical equipment maker Terumo will further its efforts to aid staffers who have cancer, in line with a new law enacted last month to encourage employers to help such individuals keep working.

Terumo's new policy, covering all 5,000 or so employees, including contract workers, allows shorter hours and staggered shifts. The aim is to help better balance work and treatment.
