Thai Beverage mulls bids for Vietnamese SOEs Vinamilk, Sabeco

Thai Beverage CEO Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi is mulling a bid for two Vietnames state-owned enterprises to increase its overseas presence.

BANGKOK -- Thai Beverage chief executive Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi said on Tuesday that the conglomerate is considering bidding for two Vietnamese state-owned enterprises, Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corp. (Sabeco) and Vietnam Daily Products, known as Vinamilk.

Sabeco is Vietnam's largest brewer with a market share of 40% and Vinamilk is the biggest dairy products maker controlling 40% of the dairy market. The Vietnamese government has announced that it would completely divest its holdings in 12 companies, including these two.
