ISTANBUL -- Toyota Motor's factory in Turkey will begin shipping a mini-SUV next month, providing the automaker with an opportunity to take advantage of a new tax break for eco-friendly vehicles.
The C-HR, produced at Toyota's plant in western Turkey, is the automaker's new global strategic vehicle. The company invested 350 million euros ($387 million) to upgrade the facility, and plans to produce around 180,000 hybrid and gasoline versions of the vehicle yearly. Toyota will export to over 50 countries from the factory, concentrating mainly on Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Sales within Turkey will be strengthened as well.
