TOKYO -- Toyota Motor was deemed Japan's most valuable global brand for the eighth year in a row by U.S. consultancy Interbrand, with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group entering the rankings at sixth place for the first time on its growing overseas business.

Interbrand released its 2016 ranking of the best global brands in Japan on Wednesday, based on factors such as their impact on consumers and the operating companies' earnings.
