HONG KONG -- Cathay Pacific will not be able to return to pre-pandemic flight capacity unless it plugs a shortfall of 1,400 senior pilots, the airline's pilot union has said.

The city's flagship airline said it planned to recruit a total of 800 cadet pilots this year and next as it slowly increases passenger flights and looks to recover from the impact of the pandemic.
