HONG KONG -- Cathay Pacific Airways will hire 5,000 employees in 2024, Hong Kong's flagship carrier said on Friday, as a swift recovery in travel demand exacerbates a staffing shortage.

"We've got plans to significantly continue to increase the workforce," Rebecca Sharpe, Cathay's chief financial officer, told analysts in an online call.
