JAKARTA -- Indonesian ride-hailing and delivery service GoTo Group said Wednesday it will shut down operations in Vietnam on Sept. 16, pulling out of the fiercely competitive market in that country.
GoTo's core unit, Gojek, entered Vietnam in 2018 with local partner Go-Viet. The foray, GoTo's first venture abroad, was a rare move by an Indonesian technology company. Indonesian President Joko Widodo attended the launch ceremony in Vietnam.
