JAKARTA -- Indonesia officially launched operations of the first bullet train in the country -- and Southeast Asia -- on Monday, one day later than the previously anticipated Oct. 1.
The high-speed rail, a prestige project for President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Chinese President Xi Jinping under Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative, connects the capital city of Jakarta and Bandung, with operators expecting a positive economic impact on areas along the line.
