JAL and Tencent team on marketing to Chinese travelers

Japanese flag carrier to sell flight tickets to WeChat's 1.2bn users

TOKYO -- Flag carrier Japan Airlines has partnered with Tencent Holdings to release a WeChat mini-app that will market air trips to Japan to Chinese travelers.

The mini-app will sell tickets for all flights connecting China to Japan operating under the JAL brand. The Chinese tech group will manage the booking system and handle promotion and advertising within WeChat. The service is expected to go live by the end of the year.
