TOKYO -- Japan Airlines will start offering similar pay to senior workers as they earned before retiring under a new salary scheme from October as the aviation industry faces a growing staffing crisis, Nikkei has learned.

The official retirement age at JAL is 60. The airline currently offers yearly contracts for those who wish to continue working for 40% to 60% less pay.
