TOKYO/CHIBA, Japan -- A jet fuel shortage that surfaced last summer in Japan appears poised to repeat this year due to a longstanding business practice.
Korean Air launched its first international flight in 27 years to Kumamoto Airport in southwestern Japan on Nov. 24. However, when Korean Air's passenger jet from Incheon International Airport arrived to Kumamoto, it held enough fuel for a round-trip flight instead of a one-way trip.
