TOKYO -- Japanese telecommunications company KDDI announced Monday that it will help develop the first subway in Manila by constructing telecom and fare collection systems, as part of a national project to ease traffic congestion and air pollution in the metropolitan area.
KDDI will construct telecom infrastructure such as pipe components and cabling. It will also install servers and equipment for fare collection, such as ticket gates and vending machines. The amount of the order has not been disclosed.
