MANILA -- Nippon Yusen has built a women's dormitory at a maritime college in the Philippines to promote diversity among seafarers in a country from which the Japanese shipping company recruits around 70% of its crew.

The NYK-TDG Maritime Academy in Calamba, south of Metro Manila, is operated jointly by Nippon Yusen, better known as NYK Line, and Transnational Diversified Group, a Philippine company that provides transportation and crew management services.
