TOKYO -- The main railway operators in eastern Japan are to resume sales of Suica and Pasmo contactless travel passes on Sept. 1 after a year's suspension.

East Japan Railway (JR East), the issuer of Suica, and Pasmo, which issues a card by the same name, stopped sales of these cards in August 2023 due to a shortage of suitable chips.
