SEOUL -- Korean Air Lines has chosen cargo-only carrier Air Incheon as the preferred bidder for Asiana Airlines' global cargo freighter business, taking a key step toward its own planned acquisition of Asiana.

Korean Air made the decision at a board meeting this week. An agreement on the cargo operation's sale is expected to be finalized as early as July.
