SEPANG, Malaysia -- Capital A, the parent company of budget carrier AirAsia, announced on Monday a proposal to place its aviation units inside a single entity to  increase the value of its other businesses and to also help it emerge from a stock market sanction.

"We are confident that by separating the aviation business from Capital A, the non-aviation businesses within the group -- which we feel are currently undervalued by the market -- will also be recognized for their intrinsic value and potential," Tony Fernandes, chief executive of Capital A, told reporters at its 2024 aviation outlook briefing.
