South Korea passenger jet crash kills 179 people, two survive

Incident occurs as Jeju Air flight from Bangkok was landing with 181 people on board

SEOUL -- A South Korean passenger jet arriving from Thailand and carrying 181 passengers and crew crashed into a wall at an airport in southwestern South Korea on Sunday, killing 179 people, the National Fire Agency announced, in one of the country's worst aviation disasters. Two people, both crew members, survived.

Acting President Choi Sang-mok, who traveled to the crash site in the country's southwest, declared a seven-day period of national mourning.
