TOKYO -- The Tokyo Metropolitan Government expects to complete an extension of the Oedo subway line by around 2040, according to a draft plan to improve transportation access across the capital.

The extension would add roughly 4 kilometers of rail that spans three new stations in the northwestern section of central Tokyo. The idea is to eliminate gaps in service where the nearest station would be more than 1 km away.
